Sára Kele is a Budapest (Hungary) and Fuerteventura (Spain) based designer. Her design office, sarakele studio, creates exciting yet simple and timeless furniture and interiors - always keeping sustainability in focus.
Sára is a trained industrial design engineer. She started her professional practice at prestigious studios both locally and internationally before founding her own studio.
Her experimental, forward-thinking approach goes beyond the visual, exploring new materials and production methods. Localism is a priority; whenever possible, she intertwines traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art, innovative techniques. She produced her first object 10 years ago, and has since then carved out her own style, based on playful creativity and a sustainable approach.
Conscious design, consideration of environmental and social impact, usefulness and usability have always been at the forefront of her thinking, paired with experimental material usage and abstract architectural spatial thinking. She gains inspiration from nature, architecture, traditional craftsmanship and fine art. At the production phase, localism, eco-friendliness, and the integration of traditional craftsmanship have been her trademark. She urges factories to focus on sustainability and awareness on the ecological and social footprint of production.
Her work has also been widely recognised by the industry’s major international exhibitions. One of her collections is represented at Rossana Orlandi's gallery in Milan. The studio’s objects have already appeared in several exhibitions and received numerous prestigious awards, such as the Red Dot Design Award (2021), Good Design Award (2021), Architizer A+ Design Award (2021), A’ Design Award (2022), Big See (2021, 2020, 2019), Hungarian Design Award (2023) and Dezeen (longlisted, 2022) recognitions.
